WHAT STUDENTS & PARENTS HAVE TO SAY ABOUT TRAINING AT OUR ACADEMY . . . . .

In the last 12 months our daughter Emily has been training with John Turners Black Belt Academy - Little Dragons Taekwondo. What a difference it has made to her! It has given her inner confidence and new ways to handle difficult situations with more composure. Physically her co-ordination, strength and endurance levels have been increased immensely - being apparent in other activities. We would highly recommend John Turners Black Belt Academy to others as a great way to get fit and learn self defence techniques in a friendly and structured environment.

Ryan is a very sensitive, caring and loving little boy, who despite being bullied at school hasn't altered from this at all. He used to be very shy and very nervous but thanks to the Academy he is no longer shy and nervous. He used to lack confidence in what he did and in himself, but again this is now much different. Ryan's training is making him fit and more disciplined than he was and now if he could he would train 6 days a week. I think you (the academy) are training the students very well with a good variety of skills to learn etc. Ryan needs a confidence boost every now and then from some at the academy so he can continue to believe in himself instead of his parents telling him.

He loves to train at the academy; he is a proud and respected member ~ congratulations to you all.

Tracey Shepherd for Ryan ~ Junior Leadership Team Member

I started training at the academy in January 2001. As I licensee I felt a needed to improve my self defence skills, however I soon learnt that the benefits don't stop just there. I immediately increased my social circle, whilst keeping fit on a regular basis and found that introducing my two daughters, who were 9 and 5 at the time, this was a chance to enjoy some quality time as a family while we were all reaping the benefits.

Now nearly 5 years later, we are fully committed while at various stages of training, and have all improved dramatically in several aspects of our lives, including socially and confidently.

I have recently joined the Leadership Team, as I feel it is only right that I pass on some of what I have learnt as those did to me when I started out those few short years ago.

Our son Tim has studied at the Academy for the last three years to achieve his Black Belt. During this time he has received excellent instruction and support. His time at the Academy has not only taught him Martial Arts but has helped in his development as an individual. Tim's personal confidence has improved, especially when he moved into the leadership programme and he now displays a good range of interpersonal skills. Training at the Academy has given Tim an interest and focus during an important stage of his development and has led to a real sense of achievement on his part.

Mr. Steve Corlett for Tim, Senior Leadership Team Member and Black Belt

Our Son Max, who has enjoyed his Little Dragons classes for three months now, attended his first Graduation Ceremony recently and was very proud to receive his Orange Belt. since his very first class I have been impressed by the standard of teaching, discipline and attainment and by the patience of all the teaching staff, especially as the Little Dragons are so young and, hence, not always the most focused of students despite their obvious enjoyment an enthusiasm. Prior to the recent Graduation Ceremony both my husband and myself had concluded that encouraging Max to become a part of "John Turners Black belt Academy" had been a good and valuable decision. The structure of the lessons adds to Max's education and provides life skills in so many ways. However, during the Graduation Ceremony and Martial Arts Demonstration we were 'blown away' by the performances of so many of the students and staff. Both yourself and Mr Watson certainly gave highly impressive skill demonstrations but there was impressive skill at all levels and the dedication of all pupils and staff was clear to see. We have no doubts at all about the benefits of being part of your Academy.

My Eldest Son Mason who is 6yrs has Downs Syndrome and I have always wanted him to learn some form of self defense & positive thinking. Mason has always had minimal concentration and "selective hearing" (don't they all) he needs lots of encouragement at times to complete tasks. Since starting Little Dragons Mason has come on leaps & Bounds, the instructors are brilliant with him & he is treated no differently to others by Children & Staff alike. The positive attitude that Little Dragons teaches has encouraged Mason so much, he loves to go and he tries very hard at all the moves, his concentration has improved no end. He gets on brilliantly with the other children & now has a whole new set of friends as well as learning things that will be vital to him for the future. I would recommend Little Dragons to any parent.

Harry has been coming to the academy for about 4 months now and i can't believe just how well he has come with his confidence. He was quite shy although very sociable but i could never get him to stand up in front of people and show what he can do. Being at the academy has shown him that every one is in the same boat so he doesn't feel any different, he wants to be the one now to show everyone his talents. He has no shyness about him anymore, thank you everyone for showing him how to thrive. keep up the good work
